The Agile Learning Manifesto

We are uncovering better ways of developing people by doing it and helping other do it. Through this work we come to value:

Individuals and Interactions over curricula and tools

Learning for Performance Improvement over comprehensive knowledge transfer

Learner Collaboration over contract/program negotiation

Responding to Change over following a plan

This is, while there is a value on the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

Principles behind The Agile Learning Manifesto

We follow these principles:

Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continues delivery of valuable learning leading to increased job performance

Welcome changing learner needs, even late in a program. Agile learning harness change for the customer’s competitive advantage

Deliver learning interventions leading to performance improvement from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with the preference to the shorter timescale

Business people, learners and facilitators must work together frequently throughout the project

Build projects around motivated learners. Give them the environment and support they need and trust them to get the job done

The most efficient and effective method of learning to and within a team is face to face communication

Performance Improvement is the primary measure of progress

Agile approaches promote sustainable learning. The sponsors, learners and facilitators should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely

Continuous attention to learning excellence and good design enhances agility

Simplicity – the art of maximizing the amount of activity not done – is essential

The best learning needs, design and interventions emerge from self organizing teams

At regular intervals the team reflects on how to learn more effective then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.

The inspiration for this manifesto comes from the Manifesto for Agile Software Development to be found at www.http//agilemanifesto.org
